This product is comprised of the latest version of FreeBSD, theComplete FreeBSD Manual, Applixware Office Suite 5.0, and PartitionMagic 5.0.
FreeBSD is a Unix-compatible operating system based on 4.4BSD. BSD was initially developed at the University of California, and has been in continuous development for more than 20 years. FreeBSD comes with the industry-standard X Window System (X11R6) for the PC, XFree86. You also get a rich set of ready-to-run applications and environments, including Gnome, KDE, Netscape, OpenLook, Tcl/Tk, AppleTalk, and hundreds more.
This package includes the entire FreeBSD operating system on five CD-ROMs, including the complete source code that lets you reconfigure the entire OS and support software from source with one command. Also included is an 800-page documentation, installation, and reference guide.
FreeBSD also comes with a complete development of Sun's JDK, GNU C/C++, and gdb debugger, as well as Perl, Python, Scheme Tcl, and GNU Emacs. For printing, you get Groff, TeX, Ghosyscript, and AFM fonts. The basch, csh, zsh, and tcsh shells give you a wide choice of environments. FreeBSD supports ISO 9660, RockRidge, and Joliet format CDs.
Applixware Office Suite 5.0 for FreeBSD is a suite of full-featured productivity tools that take advantage of the multiuser, multitasking, and internetworking capabilities of the FreeBSD operating system. PartitionMagic is a tool that allows you to safely make room for FreeBSD without losing any data on another partition.

Not ready for prime time!
I was looking for a viable alternative to MS products and, in the last month, I have installed 5 different xxxBSD and Linux OS's. This version failed to recognize my hardware. As well, the istallation was D&O (dense and opaque). For people want to investigate other OS's, IMHO, the BSD's are not ready for you. In contrast, some of the Linux OS's have worked hard and do provide a usable path to these new OS's....
