Targus PAWM001U Wireless Optical Mouse/Pointer/Presenter Customer Reviews
Worked for 1 year, but I am trying a Logitech now
-
I had to buy a new one, and I chose another brand (Logitech) this time.
There is no On/Off button, so the batteries run out if you don't take them out (I think the buttons are pressed during transportation). Now the battery contacts are not functioning properly.
And I had the same problem described in a recent review: "I'll click three or four times and nothing happens. Then, I'll click and the slides go in fast forward until the end. It's quite embarrassing to be giving a professional presentation and have this happen."8/17/2006 12:00 AM | Rating:

Do not buy

Mouse movement is extremely slow. It literally takes 10 (!) seconds to get from one side of the screen to another (800x600). I just got it from OfficeDepot [...].
Buttons are too small and hard to control. Joystick is unresponsive.6/9/2006 12:00 AM | Rating:

Yes - worst product ever...
-
I wish I read the reviews before I bought this thing, unfortunately.Extremely user unfriendly to connect and disconnects itself often; kills batteries even in sleep mode.
The size and precision is good when it does work, but definitely not worth the money.I exchanged it for a new one thinking it was just the first unit, but still terrible.4/8/2006 12:00 AM | Rating:

A fine wireless mouse for the money
-
I just got this mouse as part of a "notebook essentials" kit, and it's proven to be a fine value for the money. A few things:
**The size is great for travel... maybe it's too small if you have large fingers, or too heavy if you're a 98 lb. weakling... for everyone else, it's fine.
**The movement is as smooth as my corded infrared mouse at home (granted, I've never used it further away from my laptop than about 2 feet).
**The blinking blue light on the USB part is a little annoying.
**The sleep mode is great... if you click on a button, it comes to life immediately. My guess is the earlier reviewer with the problem had an older laptop.
**The earlier reviewer was incorrent... this mouse is totally plug-and-play and you can plug it in whenever you like... before powering up, in the middle of working on something... whatever.
**The buttons and scroll wheel work perfectly.
Here's the bottom line: upon seeing it in action and finding out the price, two of my friends went out and bought one. It's not perfect, but it's great for the price.2/25/2006 12:00 AM | Rating:

Awful

Do not buy. This may be the worst product I've ever bought. It has never worked properly.I've kept fresh batteries in it, but it's still no good.Within 10 feet of the laptop, I'll click three or four times and nothing happens. Then, I'll click and the slides go in fast forward until the end. It's quite embarrassing to be giving a professional presentation and have this happen.
Awful product.Believe the bad reviews. It's worse than they describe.
The only positive thing I can say about the product is that it doubles nicely as a cat toy.My cat loves the laser pointer.2/7/2006 12:00 AM | Rating:
