Worst drive I've ever used; causes crashes several times a day

I bought this because MacWorld gave it such a strong review. As soon as I got it, I noticed my machine would freeze up several times a day; I ended up unplugging the power to the drive many times a day to get it rebooted.Often it would cause my mac to completely freeze up and I'd have to reboot.I finally realized that my computer would freeze up completely under certain scenarios, which I could reproduce at will. All of these involved the computer going to sleep. At first Iomega support gave me many...

Plays well with Mac

Works just fine with my PowerBook Mac Computer.I don't keep it plugged in all the time, though, and didn't try to install any of the included backup software. Some people mentioned it doesn't work well with MACS since you have to reformat the drive...well, that took all of about 10 seconds to complete and it was ready to go.This does not have the Firewire 800 port (just 400) but that's fine since my notebook doesn't support 800 either!...

A sophisticated external storage device at a reasonable price

January 6, 2006, I originally posted the following review:My iomega model 33115, plugged into a $9.95 6-outlet power strip, has worked precisely as advertised since I installed it more than 8 months ago on my computer running Windows XP.It works equally well whether connected to a FireWire port in my desktop, or a USB port in my laptop. It is hot-swappable:if I wish to move it from one computer to another, I click on the "safely remove hardware" icon in the systray portion of my taskbar before disconnecting...

Not compatible with Mac OS X v10.4

I just recieved the hard drive from Amazon yesterday and installed it. The following day my iMAC G5 wouldautomatically shut off after staying in sleep mode. Then my spot light feature stopped working completely. Contacted online chat support and they said that the Automatic Backup software is not fully compatible with MAc OS X v10.4, therefore I had to uninstall the Automatic Backup software folder which is interferring with the operating system. She recommended the triple interface model for Mac...

BE VERY CAREFUL before buying this . . .

Be careful. I've spent 4 hours in 'live chat' with their technical support to make this thing work. And it won't do what I need it to do. First, be careful -- it must be plugged directly into the wall socket(it won't work plugged into a power strip) and it needs a main USB port in the back of your computer unit (front, side, or alternate USB ports won't work -- less power to alternate USB ports they said). And the you have to download a 'PRO' version of the software hidden on their website in order...
