Product Description

The 3-piece Altec Lansing MX5021 delivers full, accurate, THX-certified sound, whether it be a sophisticated cello suite or intense PC game action. Two midrange drivers in each satellite produce extremely responsive sound, while the horn-loaded tweeter offers extra-wide dispersion of those crystal-clear highs. With its auxiliary input jack, you can connect to two different audio sources (such as a CD player and an MP3 jukebox) simultaneously. It has 90 watts of total power (50 watts from the subwoofer and 20 watts from each satellite).

This set also features a control pod for fingertip management on your desktop of bass, treble, and master volume as well as a wireless remote control, a headphone jack for private listening, easy-to-connect color-coded cables, and shielded satellites for use near video monitors.

What's in the Box
Altec Lansing MX5021 package contains 1 subwoofer, 2 satellites, wired controller, wireless remote, 2 speaker wires, console gaming Y adapter, and 3.5 mm stereo audio cable.

Redesigned

I have owned three sets of these speakers. The first had stunning sound quality for the price. I replaced it with a white set which had equal sound but started to hiss after a couple of months. The reseller replaced it, but my third set is a completely different product. The speaker elements are different from the previous ones and from what is shown on the box. The sound quality is not the same. The real problem is the subwoofer. The lower bass is weak and muddy. The satellites have become more...

Good sound, not very refined product.

First off these sound very good. They are balanced well, that is to say they are not made to blast you with base, but the base comes in as needed to make things sound as they should. There are problems though. As noted by many other reviewers these speakers have hiss when not in use. This is usually only noticable when you are leaning near to them, but at times it is annoying. For me it really isn't an issue because if the computer is on I have it playing music all the time. The second problem I had...

GREAT!

I do not write many reviews, but in this case I really needed to.All of the positive reviews of this product are really correct.I am using these speakers to listen to my iPod through the docking system.I set it up originally using the cables provided and then upgraded to some monster cable, but it is not really necessary.I think that the dock for the iPod is necessary as you get a much better feed to speakers. With all that said, right out of the box, the speakers rock out.Yes, the first reviewer...

Hiss, Hiss, Hiss!

I read the other reviews mentioning the hiss, and thought, "How bad could it be?" The hiss is worse than you can imagine. The reason some people don't notice is probably due to the sound from the PC's fans and hard drives. Turn off your PC and the speakers sound like you're on the ocean, even at minimal volume. Shame, shame Altec Lansing. The volume control is nearly worthless. It is digital with a noticeable step in volume when turning the knob. Getting a soft sound or fine adjustment is nearly...
