Amazing quality for computer speakers

I normally listen to music on a very high quality system in the living room. For the last year or so I've also been using a pair of Sennheiser HD-600 headsets while working at my computer. Those are as close to the 'reference' headsets used in recording studios as will still let me hear my sick wife when she needs me. Basically, my standards are high, and these Altec Lansing speakers have not disappointed me. I would have been willing to pay up to five hundred for the quality these provide.When...

Better than expected

I read the other reviews for these speakers so I had very high expectations. I can only say WOW! The premium price (compared with lesser 2.1 speaker systems) is absolutely justified....

FX6021 -- A good replacement for lamented, broken Monsoon PM-9

Background - Raphael Liberatore of Computer Gaming World magazine reviewed the Monsoon Planar Media 9 in 2002 and said they were the best 2.1 speakers he had heard. I listened to some other Monsoon speakers and then bought a set of PM-9s based on his recommendation. It was a good recommendation, and I really enjoyed them. (I also have a review on Amazon for the PM-9.)But my PM-9s suffered a broken controller cable from a minor accident. As Monsoon is out of the computer speaker business (or something...

Pinnacle of 2.1 PC speakers, best for their price

For reference, I've owned a set of Labtec APX-6420 2.1 speakers for about 6-7 years now. With the purchase of a a new computer (Mac Pro + Cinema Display) I decided it was also time to upgrade my speakers. I spent a very long time mulling over different brands and models, listening to them in stores whenever possible. Of the major "PC speaker" makers, I recall sampling Altec Lansing, Logitech, Klipsch, Bose, Creative, and JBL. Aside from listening in stores (a poor environment) I also took into account...

Below expectation, Bass Stinks, should've bought cheaper ones.

I did a lot of research before buying this and I considered Logitech Z-2300 2.1 THX-Certified 200-Watt Speaker System and other speakers from Altec Lansing or Creative. This one was the costliest and the most impressive tech specs.I use it for Listening Music, Gaming and watching TV/videos.It makes gaming and movies a spectacular experience. The quality of the speakers is pretty good. But When I listen to music, It needs some serious equalizing to make it pleasant to listen. The Bass does stink. It...
