I bought the Grundig "Mini World 100 PE" world-band radio on December 21, 2001 so I have had it for 4.5 years so far. Its primary use was to replace the Becker "Europa" (AM/FM stereo cassette) in my 1982 Mercedes-Benz 240D while it was being exchanged for a rebuilt unit. This Chinese-made Grundig is nice for the size and price, with good sensitivity. It picks up distant and/or low power stations fairly well with the antenna fully raised and pointed in the right direction. The selectivity is good too. It rejects stations near the desired frequency quite well. It has acceptable sound quality considering its small size. It fits nicely into a pocket or briefcase and for this reason; I usually bring it with me when I travel. It has FM stereo when used in conjunction with stereo earphones (included). It features a five element telescopic antenna measuring 370 mm (14.57 inches). It has an LED tuning indicator for stereo signals, a removable belt clip, and a soft black leatherette carrying pouch. The tuner is the slide-rule type, not digital. Powered by two AA batteries (included). The package also included a useful short-wave listener's guide. Overall, the Grundig "Mini World 100 PE" is a handsome, durable, miniature radio that performs well.4/25/2006 12:00 AM | Rating:

I got this radio for Christmas, it's great.
It tunes in every FM station that I know of plus a huge selection of ones I didn't know existed.
It tunes in more short wave stations than I initially thought it would, most are religious & politic stations but very interesting. It even tunes in a couple alien stations, I find myself zoning out to them with the hope of eventually learning their language.
The volume and tuning controls are as the first reviewer says but I find it a good thing for the tuning control.
To me, the stiffer the tuning control, the slower you can cross the stations (which is good when you're trying to catch the short wave stations.2/11/2006 12:00 AM | Rating:

Overall, this is a great radio. Picks up many stations on AM and FM. Plenty of volume and clear sound from the small speaker. Shortwave reception also picks up several stations. Remember, this is an inexpensive little radio for the features. The main issue I have is the volume and tuning controls. There is too much play in the tuning control snd it is difficult to turn. The volume control seems to move several degrees with no sound and then in a short distance it really comes on strong. Stereo reception with quality headsets is very good.
