Overpriced, but some will find good use in them

For a stereo pair of computer speakers, these aren't too bad (Which is rarely the case with Bose, but we won't let my opinion of the company get in the way with my opinion of the product). They do indeed sound quite decent for a fairly small set of computer speakers. The best computer speakers ever made!

I have tested a lot of computer speakers on my computer and ALWAYS the sound was distorted when I turned up the volume to the maximum! My computer had originally Windows 98 and JBL speakers and everything worked great until I updated to Windows ME, then to Windows 2000 and after that to XP. XP works great with everything but one thing! The original sound drivers didn't work for my sound card in XP and they were replaced by generic ones. ..if you think I know nothing about speakers you are wrong. I do know a lot about them, and I know the sound on the mediamates could be a bit more clear, but that is for music. I am 100% sure you have never tested Bose Mediamates with movies or games. I tell you right now that no 2.1 speakers that cost less than $125, rivals the sound of the Mediamates with movies and games. They will just have more voluem and bass, but the Mediamates are more than enough in volume. Why cant any of you accept that...

You can buy much better for less money.....

My main problem with Bose speakers in general is that they "color" the sound quite a bit. The whole "Proprietary spaciousness-enhancing circuitry", in my opinion takes away much of the clarity of the sound. In my opinion, most of the people who wrote reviews here really do not know much about speakers, because Bose have a horrible reputation with audiophiles.I owned and returned these speakers. For their size, category and prize...

...they are the best Compact 2 speaker set for Computers!... I have owned my Mediamates for a year and 2 months right now, and I must say I am very happy with them. I have tested this speakers against the ones my old computer came with, that are JBL. Also, I have tested them against the ones my new computer came with, which are Klipsch 2.1 speakers. To tell you the truth the Bose sound way better, more clear, more spacious and more bassy than the JBL speakers, considering the JBL dont go as loud...
