Slick Looking - Components are older technology - Keyboard sucks!
Picked one of these up the other day, mostly for the slick design and for the wireless keyboard with trackball type mouse controller. But that's all it has, is looks...After using the keyboard, it quickly became tedious to use, since not only are the keys hard to push down, they are in a tight proximity of each other and not in the usual places, and the wireless is hit and miss, possibly because it runs at only 49MHz frequency. It will miss keys here and there, so you have to type very slooow, and...

Nothing but problems
I've had around 10 computers, and this is the worst by far.Out of the box, networking didn't work until Customer Support applied some weird BIOS patch. The video card's gone out... TWICE.HP's customer support application got into such a broken state that it can't even be uninstalled. The eject button sticks -- I have to press *really* hard, in exactly the right spot.I really, really wish I had gotten something, anything else....

Requires setup patience, but will work great
After reading the reviews for this product, I was hesitant to buy it, but there wasn't any other products like it so I took a chance. This product does work great, but don't expect it to work out of the box.It didn't for me.If you are not very computer literate, this is not the product for you, but if you have patience and smarts to play with it, like I did, it will work great.Mine does.A few pointers to save some frustration. After setting it up, you must do the following to get it to work right...

If you want problems, buy this.
This machine touts many features and looks great. That is all that is good that can be said.I spent $1899 on this machine in November expecting it could operate as a music server, play DVDs and record TV programs.Since that time, I have had it working only for a couple of weeks. The rest of the time it has been at HP getting fixed.Even with sending the machine to HP and having a technician come to my home, the machine still does not work right. The DVD does not work, it does not support HDTV, HP Tunes...

Great concept...poor engineering. Joe Technophile is right.
Joe is absolutely right. Out of the box it is love at first sight, but the honeymoon didn't last long. The fatal flaw seems to be the intense heat generated by the dual tuners and the fact being a computer, TV, radio, ITunes player and Tivo all in one the z545 is naturally "on" all day and it doesn't do well when it gets overheated. I have my machine in a rack type environment in my home theater and even after I made allowances for space above, below and on the sides and kept the cabinet door open...
