Product Description
Why bother waiting for the photo lab when you can print images that are just as good--or maybe better--at home? The Canon PIXMA iP4200 combines five-color printing with a 1,856-nozzle print head capable of delivering superfine 1-picoliter ink droplets. The result is gorgeously clean, sharp prints delivered into your hands just minutes after you snapped the shot.
Color resolution is as high as 9,600 x 2,400 dpi, with black resolution up to 600 x 600 dpi. Print speeds range up to 29 ppm for monochrome and 19 ppm in color; a borderless 4-by-6-inch photo takes as little as 51 seconds. With the iP4200's automatic two-sided printing, you can easily produce glossy brochures and invitations right from your desktop. Improved ink technology supplies rich black text that offers exceptional resistance to smudges--it even holds up to highlighter pens. (All reported speeds are maximums. Actual speeds will vary.)
With its straightforward USB port, connecting the printer with your computer is a snap; the iP4200 is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh operating systems and includes software tools like Easy-PhotoPrint (Windows/Mac), Easy WebPrint (Windows), and PhotoRecord (Windows). A direct print port allows you to print directly from a PictBridge-compatible digital camera or DV camcorder, with or without your computer. The printer is backed with a one-year limited warranty covering parts and labor.

canon makes great printers. Ink is NOT a rip-off.
I have a canon S900 printer (it was the high end printer when I bought it). I had to write this review to clarify information regarding the ink cartridges. The reviewer who say that "ink is a total rip off" definitely has NOT done his research... least not very well. You CAN buy the cartridges individually (as is true of my Canon S900).The color ones for this unit are CLI-8C, CLI-8M, and CLI-8Y along with a black cartridge of CLI-8Bk. It has another black cartridge PGI-5 (a pigment black).two black...

DVD Printing
There is no reason for you to not accept this review. It does not voilate your posted agreement.I will continue to post it every day until it appears.Due to some sort of patient restriction, Epson seems to be the only option for low-budget CD/DVD printing (i.e. R300/320). The Canon iP5200 that is sold in Europe is capable of printing on CDs/DVDs and does a better job than the Epson and doesn't suffer from all the tray mechanism problems that plague the Epson (even with the new, improved tray replacement...

Wonderful little printer.
Disregard comments from reviewers who say you can't buy ink refill kits or individual ink cartridges for this printer - you can.So far, this is the best printer I have ever owned. And I have owned several HPs and two Canon S750s. It prints text, graphics, and photos, and it prints them well. There are many good reasons why Consumer Reports ranked this the no. 1 inkjet printer.Try it. You'll like it....

BEWARE-DO NOT BUY. INK IS A TOTAL RIP OFF!
I loved this printer until one of the color inks ran empty. Then it refused to print until I replaced the low cartridge. It would not even print black text in grayscale, which does not use any the color cartridges. So, out I went to buy a new cyan cartridge. It turns out that I had to buy a whole set of cartridges, at over $80. I couldn't buy just the one I needed. I had visions of myself spending $80 every time just one color emptied, as I collected a whole shelf full of colors I didn't need. I...
