Great value and good performance

I've been using a Sony Cybershot 2.1 Megapixel for the past few years and except for the BATTERY DRAIN I've been very pleased with it as I am only interested in my camera for snap shots.I bought my DXG-301 (New) off ebay for $76 delivered and they even threw in a 128 MB SD Card!FIRST of all, I read the owners manual (many don't seem to) and then spent an hour "playing" with the Still picture functions (not interested in video).What was I looking for in a digital camera?A CCD rather than a CMOS sensor...

Fairly Satisfied

I recieved this camera as a Christmas gift about two years ago.I had asked for a digital camera, but did not expect to get a video camera.I feel like the device should not be marketed as a video camera, but more as a still camera because the quality of the videos is quite poor.My interest in photography has recently grown, and this camera does not always suit my needs.(Plus, people are often uncomfortable when they think that I'm recording video, when I'm only taking stills, since use of the LCD...

Works better for stills than for video.

As a video camera, the DC DXG-301v leaves a lot to be desired. Mine records sound terribly, and the video comes out "pixelly" if I'm moving around. I find the stills, however, to be of great detail (I can see the wrinkles around my eyes...wait a minute...is this a good thing?). That being the one good feature isn't enough to make up for the other problem: the software. This camera comes with some cheesy brand of software that caused my computer to malfunction, then the problems ceased when I uninstalled...
