Sony's DCR-DVD200 DVD Handycam camcorder, records up to 520 lines of horizontal resolution MPEG2 video, and 1 megapixel resolution still images directly to a 8cm DVD-R/-RW disk. The tapeless DVD format enhances image quality and simplifies the editing process, and prevents recording over existing data by ensuring that only blank areas of the DVD disk are used.
