The ultra-compact MV4 incorporates a new sophisticated and attractively designed body with a metallic exterior. With its curvaceous body it is easy and comfortable to operate, and it features a small adjustable hand strap, minimizing wrist strain and enhancing control.The MV4 includes a unique extended recording function that substantially increases the length of recording time per cassette and prevents the running out of tape during critical shooting moments. To achieve extended recording, 2x greater image data compression is applied resulting in a recording time, which is 3x longer in ELP mode than that in Standard (SP) mode. For example, in ELP mode an 80-minute DV tape will record 4 hours of video footage. Featuring an improved RGB progressive scan CCD, and Canon's image stabilizer and optical 10x zoom lens, the MV4 is ideal for advanced camcorder users who demand a high level of image and color resolution. The zoom range of the MV4 can be digitally extended to 40x. With the help of Canon's progressive scan CCD image sensor, users can also operate the MV4 as digital still cameras. The CCD has an RGB primary color filter, which provides excellent color reproduction. Using progressive scanning, the MV4 reads and isolates information frame by frame. Sharp still images are then recorded at a speed of 25 full-frame images per second - ideal for fast moving subjects. To ensure that the user captures the best moments, the progressive scan mode makes it possible to record the moving image and then choose the desired still image(s) from the recorded tape.
