The JVC GR-SXM920U S-VHSC Camcorder has a built-in digital camera and offers high resolution VHS and super-VHS recording, plus special effects during recording and playback. Its 3" high resolution LCD monitor, 400x digital hyper zoom, built-in auto light and full function remote control ensure moviemaking is a breeze. Its digital advantage means that this camcorder comes with a digital time base corrector and digital chroma noise reduction, picture stabilizer and high quality picture with digital signal processing. Other features include date/time display with auto date, digital auto tracking, j-terminal for computer connectivity, quick record mode, retake and quick review and battery remaining indication/ remaining tape time counter. Among other features are 6 Component digital signal processing with Chroma Noise Reduction, Time Base Corrector, Luminance Noise Reduction, Horizontal Aperture Circuitry, Vertical Aperture Circuitry, Variable and Circuitry; Animation and Timelapse - Animation lets you shoot video a frame at a time to make drawings and objects "move" on the tape, while Timelapse automatically records at set intervals so you can catch rare scenes, like a flower blooming, on tape (SP mode only).

Good Camcorder - Could have gotten bang more for my buck!
Don't get me wrong, this is a good camcorder. I love all of the functions and it's really easy to get started with and use. The built-in light and stability features are too die for. There are tons of accessories you can get to enhance your pictures and vhs quality. But, it's not a true digital camera. And the digital camera function could be improved on. I get better quality photos using my scanner at home. The software that comes with the system is not adequate either. I feel that the $649 retail...

Nice, easy to use Video camera
Nice little unit.Had a cassette jam when I first got it. Had to send it in ( at my expense ) to Chicago, for repairs. Turn around time was 2 weeks. After that, never had another problem.Good photos, great zoom. Bought several filters and both a wide angle and telephoto lens to add to it.A must for this camera is a polarizer lens filter. Really brings out colors and reduces glare from water...... Simple to drop the small cassette into the vcr adapter to plug and play them immediately, or just hook...

Buy a less expensive model for same results.
I bouhgt this model last year for Christmas and sort of regret it. The quality of the video and ease of use is good, but it is no better than a VHS entry level model. My greatest beef is how wimpy the battery is for this top of the line model. If you buy any JVC, you really need to buy an extra battery or you will miss moments that you want to capture. Buy the basic model with the LED screen for basic use or pony up for a digital model for all the bells and whistles....

Don't waste your money in this camcorder
I have owned JVC camcorders for the last 10 years. So when I decided for a new one, all the gadgets and the viewfinder/monitor were really appealing to me, I chose the JVC GR-SXM920U palm-size compact VHS-C camcorder. Even though the gadgets are really good, I couldn't regret more my choice. The digital camera is a joke. It distorts the images being captured (very good to create funny faces). Thequality of the image created is very low, mainly if you use the stabilizer feature and is indoor. Also...

LOVE THIS CAMERA.....BEAUTIFUL PICTURES WITH TRUE TO LIFE COLOR....EASY TO WORK AND PRODUCED WONDERFUL ANIMATION ALSO.....LOVE ALL THE DIFFERENT GADGETS THAT ARE OH, SO EASY TO USE...THE LIGHT ON THE FRONT IS VERYHELPFUL WHEN YOU ARE IN LOW LIGHT AND TO SUM IT ALL UP...THIS ISAWESOME....I LIKE IT BETTER THAN THE MORE COMPLICATED JVC DIGITAL CAMCORDERWHICH I ALSO HAD....THIS IS SO EASYYYYYY....
