Very impressed

I purchased these almost exactly a year ago and thought I might share my experience here. When I was shopping for headphones I was looking for a pair that was reasonably priced with good sound reproduction and passive noise cancelling (in my experience active cancelling produces a background hiss).Overall I think I probably got the perfect set.Although I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile, I can tell that all sound from music to games sounds very good.Other reviewers have noted that the bass...

very disappointing

After reading the reviews here, I bought these headphones, because they seemed like a good value.I would say that the clarity is rather good, and for high-end and midrange sounds, they sound pretty good.On the downside, they were initially so tight that they made my head hurt from wearing them.Luckily, they have loosened up over time, but my biggest beef is that they have basically nonexistant low-end.Some of the music I listen to is bass-heavy, and I simply can't hear tones below a certain point...

Very pleased; not perfect; would recommend

Prior to these 280's, I had a pair of Sennheiser HD 250 Linear II's.I replaced the 250's because of problems with the cord connection and because I had never been happy with the build quality. The 280's are very well put together.I haven't had them long, so I can't speak to long-term reliability, but I expect it to be good.Overall, I think the 280's sound better than the 250's, though the 280's lack some in bass response.I suppose the bass is better proportioned with the overall sound in the 280...

Unbelievable headphones !!

You get what you pay for, and these headphones are worth every dollar spent!!I tried everything, from regular Sony, Yamaha, no-brand, etc. They all had a good quality of sound. All closed headphones, the bass was decent (a bit too much in Sony), frequency response was really good. This is until I got my first Sennheiser HD-280. I can hear stuff I never heard before! The bass goes lower in frequency, giving your music a different sound. You are actually able to listen what the musician intended for...

Sound OK, but are very bulky & uncomfortable..

I have been using Sony 7506's forever. So comfortable. So clear. So flimsy. The cord is not detachable, so I have gone through three pair already with the cord always getting loose. Having said this, after doing a lot of online investigations, it seemed that the Sennheiser 280s were rated closest in sound, have a detachable cord (feature not available in Sonys) and were supposedly comfortable. They are NOT comfortable. Sure the ear cups swivel and they collapse so you can travel with them, and they...
