Sorry, but I don't agree!
I bought mine for $215.00 almost 4 years ago, and it still works GREAT! I was a long-haul truck driver, and I needed something that didn'ttake up too much space. I used it on my truck for 2 years, and it worked well even when the truck was moving (CDs, you know). I especially like the fact that.it will play PAL as well as NTSC DVDs. I'm home now, and use it (still) as a backup machine. However I never used the battery, never even took it out of the box, so I can't testify as to it. I LOVE THIS MACHINE...

Died after a few months at which time the battery only lasted an hour, not worth it....

Poor Service
The battery never held a charge. Sent message to customer service and never received a response. Wouldn't recommend this product or company....

Breaks Down -- Warranty No Good!
I agree with all the other comments about this product not lasting very long. Ours worked fine for about a year then suddenly stopped playing for no reason. I called customer service and was basically told I was out of luck!...

Mine only lasted 7 months, they won't honor warranty!
Apex may be an inexpensive alternative for those of us on a small budget, but mine broke within 7 months and they won't honor the one year warranty. They said it would cost 215 dollars plus shipping and handling to repair a manufacturers default( the plastic just fell apart). Considering I only paid 100 dollars, I told them they were crazy. Then when I asked to speak to a supervisor they hung up on me. I guess it was great while it lasted....
