Product Description
The player comes with a complete kit to facilitate in-car operation, including an audio adapter that fits in a cassette deck, a power adapter that runs off the cigarette lighter, and a wired remote that you can mount in near the dashboard for easy operation. The player delivers 40 hours of playback on two AA batteries (not included) bolstered by Sony's two-position automatic volume limiter system (AVLS), which conserves batteries and guards your hearing by capping your listening level.
Eight playback modes include shuffle, program play, and repeat play, and handy bookmark playback lets you program favorite songs from multiple CDs and play them back at the touch of a button. Other features include a heat-resistant lid for durable outdoor use, audio CD-R/CD-RW playback, and Digital Mega Bass sound for heavy-duty low-end reinforcement.

I used this player primarily for listening to while walking around.It began to skip A LOT after about a year of use.I had to bang on it to make it stop, and that only made it fall apart faster....

works very well for a few months
the walkman i received worked magnificently and had a great sound and user interface.then, out of nowhere, it started skipping on brand new cd's.and the skipping is the worst kind-- a half-second fragment of music, 2 seconds of silence, another fragment, 10 seconds of silence, etc.anti-skip protection has no effect.holding the cd player still has no effect.the worst part of this is that the replacement cost under sony's "limited warranty" is equivalent to the price of a new cd player.i'm going to...

great sound overall but not in the car...
Sounds great when listening with head phone but when I tried it in my car, it sounded so soft even when I full blasted the volume of the car and the volume of the cd player. It's nice but the volume disappoints me. By the way, my car is brand new so I don't think my speaker is the problem....

Very good product for the price
I was confused by the reviews of people who didn't like it.I first purchased a 'Memorex' one for the price, but I had the worst time with it...needless to say I had to exchange it 2 times,after which I finally returned it.I went with the Sony as it was priced at about $100 (max for my budget) and came with a car kit.I love the remote for it, so you don't have to fidget with the small buttons while driving.I too had a problem with the beeping sound that it made, but fixed it no problem.Above all...

Good Product
I just received this player and tested it at my car. There is no problem with the volume as some other reviewers mentioned! Of course, you should turn the volume on the player a little high (more than 1) to get a good sound. I also tried to reverse play the tape (converter) to see what happens. In that case, no sound was heared.Regarding the beep sound, based on the instruction manual, if you hold "stop" button and then plug it in the power or put the batteries, the beep sound would be eliminated...
