This Speaker Stuns Its Audience

Admittedly I'm a music lover, not a technophile.I'm more interested in Charlie Watts than I am in watts per channel.But my ear is well tuned and I know what sounds good.It would seem that there is some Bose backlash out there; perhaps in response to the Rolls Royce reputation it's carried through the years.I don't know, and frankly I don't care.I will tell you that I bought my pair not as part of a surround system but as bookshelf speakers for my small home office and I couldn't be happier.They...

Ok for the price

I picked up my pair at Fry's on sale for $80 a few years ago.Initially they replaced my BSR (points if you rememba them) 10" woofer old school 30 pound furniture speakers because those old fellas finally gave up the ghost.Missing the bass, I quickly got a polk subwoofer and it was a new world,ABBA never sounded so good in life!Then, of course I had to have surround, so these litle fellas were appropriately assigned rear surround duty, at which they soldjerly march on.Not the best, not the worst...

In line with expectations

The sport of Bose bashing aside, keep in mind these are relatively small enclosures with two 2.5 inch drivers that can crate a rear sound stage much larger than their size might suggest, and can do so without being overly fussy about placement.There always seems to be someone out there who sets their surround settings to "large", pumps up the bass, then complains that two 2.5 inch drivers in small vented plastic enclosures "have no lows", and that the sound is distorted.Neither the VCS 10 center...

Good Rear channel speakers for the price

I bought these speakers with skepticism- but I satisfied with the outputFor God sake they carry 2.5 drivershow do you expect to get base from themBuy a subwoofer if you want base.As rear surround they do a fine job..Of course there are better rear surround speakersbut they cost over $400- $500For about $150you can't ask for more.If you have cash go for mirage, axiom, krell, polk etcBut If you are not rich and want a rear channel speaker you can enjoyyou have the answer here...

Great surround speakers or stereo in a small room

I'm not usually a huge Bose afficianado, but I use a pair of Bose 161 speakers as my rear surround speakers and they're great!I have much larger speakers for my L, R and center - and the 161s compliment them perfectly.I can hear very detailed sound coming from them - perfect for effects in movies.I'm not sure I'd use these as my primary speakers in my living room, but for surround applications, or small stereo needs, they fit the bill perfectly.They're attractive, solidly built, and easily mount...
