Product Description

A DVD player is only the beginning of a sensational home theater. With the Apex HT-150--which combines a DVD/CD/MP3-CD player with a five-speaker surround-sound system and a passive subwoofer--music and movies take on added power and depth. The five satellite speakers and subwoofer are designed to reproduce discrete multi-channel surround mixes from Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS surround formats, and the system also handles the Windows Media Audio format. If you burn pictures from a digital camera to CD-Rs and CD-RWs, you can even use the DVD player for watching slideshows right on a television.

Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the HT-150's DVD player stands ready to deliver the full potential of DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, providing higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. In any case, standard composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television.

The system packs 150 watts total power, the better to deliver the full heft of dinosaur feet and intergalactic engine rumble. Apex's active full screen function (AFF) helps resize widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) video images to fill 4:3 aspect-ratio sets.

If it's Apex, it's probably pretty darned good!

I don't own this particular item, in fact I don't have a home theater system at all! What I do have is the Apex 1600 and also the Apex 2600 DVD players. They were easy-as-pie to hook up and learn to use. The prices were unbelievable, too!As for most TVs having the S-video hook-up, I own 4 TVs ...uh huh, and only the 1994 (the newest of the 4), RCA 27" one has the S-video gizmo. Yeah. I have an almost identical 1993 RCA 27" that does not have it. My oldest TV is a 1980 13" Hitachi (with a dial for...

Great sound for a low price.

I also have known of Apex's good reputation. That's why when I discovered this home theater system, I couldn't pass it up. It's well worth what you pay. The sound quality is excellent. Although 150 watts may not seem like much, it is more than enough to make the walls in my living room rattle when turned up halfway. I was also impressed with the quality of the DVD player. The AFF feature is a nice touch but stretches some movies out of proportion, which may not bother some people, but it sure did...

Great for what it is

This is a great low-budget 5.1 system. However if your wishing to connect any other components up, it's not going to happen in 5.1 format. It has an input for 1 analog device. Unfortunately only the DVD player itself is played in 5.1. That said, I enjoy this system, and it really enhances the movie watching experience. For anyone looking for a decent 5.1 setup, without spending all the cash, this is the way to go....

Its a nice little system, and good value for the dollar

I have been spoiled all my life with my parents THX home theater systems and digital projectors, and when I moved out, although I diddn't have enough money to afford $10,000 worth of equipment I still wanted a home theater setup. This Apex unit caught my eye because of its feature set and low price - I wasn't expecting much. Suprisingly enough, this little puppy really performs! Thats not to say that its a substitute for a full on home theater setup, but if you are on a tight budget and still want...

Don't be discouraged, Apex is reputable

I'd like to mention, although I do not own this unit, I'd recomend Apex products to anyone.I recently bought a flat sceen 20" crt, made by them and it's execellent. Very nice picture and offered a lot of features for an awsome price. So to that "cheap not good" woman(fool), her TV is likely a dinosaur. What TV does not have at least a RCA inputs, and before buying anything of this sort it would have been logical to check.Bottom line don't be discoraged buy the price or the name, Apex boast's impressive...
