Product Description

Ready, steady, Go: you'll be set for whatever adventure the road brings your way when you pack GoVideo's DP7240 portable DVD player. The unit features off-road construction for the rigors of an active lifestyle, including anti-shock protection (ASP) and stylish blue Impact Shield rubber edges. The player's 7-inch LCD is configured in for 16:9 widescreen movies, and it'll spin your photo CDs and music CDs, too.

The DP7240 comes with a rechargeable battery good for around 2.5 hours of playing time and a credit-card-style remote that's small enough to slip into a pocket. The payer's optical-media compatibility extends from standard DVD-Video to recordable DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW, music CD, Kodak Picture CD, and recordable discs filled with JPEG images or MP3 music files. Is it equipped to show your custom slide digital-photo shows to relatives while you're traveling? You bet it is.

Connect a camcorder, video game or other external audio and video source and enjoy home movies and games while you're on the go. Or, take advantage of the unit's coaxial digital-audio output and route it through your surround-decoding AV receiver and multichannel speaker system to get the full benefits of its home theater abilities (coaxial audio cable not included).

Listen through the unit's built-in stereo speakers, or take advantage of its .125-inch headphone jack (headphones not included) to listen in private--or to confine gaming noises to the gamer's head. Additional supplied accessories include a car adapter/charger, an AC adapter/charger, and audio/video hookup cables.

The unit even sports a progressive-scan component-video output for use with your high-definition or HD-ready TV or monitor. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

What's in the Box
DVD player, remote control, remote battery, a rechargeable player battery pack, a DC vehicle power adapter, an AC/DC power adapter, audio/video hookup cables, a user's manual, a quick-reference guide, and warranty information.

Lasted 4 months

I also read a positive review in CNET and bought this - it started being flaky after about 2 months, and it's completely dead now at 4 months.I wish I read the Amazon customer reviews before buying it.Whoever gave this 5 stars either works for GoVideo or hasn't used it for long before rating it.I will not buy another GoVideo product again....

Don't buy this item

I purchased this item and gave it as a Christmas gift (2005).It broke after only 5 days.Because I bought it on line, I can't just return it for a refund. I read a positive review of this item on the CNET website and ordered it.Then I read the negative reviews on this site.CNET should be held accountable for not giving truthful information about this product....

Never GoVideo Again

I bought a GoVideo DP7240 player that quit playing DVD's after three months of very limited use.Multiple calls to their pathatic customer service center only yielded fustration and a complete slap to the face by demanding a $90 replacement fee for a refurbished, replacement unit.Do not waste your money on any GoVideo products.GoVideo markets poor quality products only to rip-off consumers....

Poor product, worse customer service

This product is a piece of garbage and the customer support from GoVideo is pathetic.I purchased this product last November for my child's xmas present.Several times it just stopped playing, then resumed working a few minutes, hours or days later. Finally just before the warranty ran out it quit altogether.I contacted GoVideo for support, no easy feat as I waited on hold 45 minutes to 1 hour after no response by email (including 2nd and 3rd emails) for 1 month. They told me my only option was to send...

A piece of garbage and electrical hazard

This player comes with a ridiculous warranty period, just 3 months. And mine started behaving funny after just one month.First I noticed sparks coming from within the body. Then it started giving me occasional mild electrical shocks when I touched the buttons.I submitted an unsafe-product report to Amazon and notified GoVideo, but apparently no action has been taken so far, given that this player is still on sale here after several months. Two months after purchase the player completely died, and since...
