Despite of all magazine reviews, the Pioneer CDJ-1000Mk2 is the new 1200 of the industry (if you know what i am talking). It has 4 types of pich 6% 10% 16% and Wide (a.k.a 100%) the large very large Dial, that has very touch sensitve feeling so if you are scrach DJ, or any type this is the most versatile dial you can buy... forget denon.. forget techics (the new one.. not the mk2)... this is the baby every one has on raves and big shows. the screen is brighter than the Mk1 version (even do, i havent seen mk1 in action).
it has revers funtions, that allows to back spin the cd even if scraching... also its quick!! loading and un-loading, it has 3 cue points, so if you are undecide , set them up and change your mind with out setting up again the cue points
the only bad thing about this cd player its that its expensive so if you are one of those bedroom DJ, you might wana wait till you get 2k so you can buy a pair.1/6/2006 12:00 AM | Rating:

I've seen this player at clubs all over the country and abroad. Definitely the reference. I've owned the non-mk2 version for over 2 years and am totally satisfied with it. The memory card and ability to store cue-point is great: I put a cue point at the beginning of each song which I think is worthwhile on a CD, which makes me see at-a-glance what to listen to in a CD.
Only things I'd like to see is a 4th hotcue point (useful since beats are 4/4), and I'd like to see less of a lag when cueing for scratch, but I guess that's inherent to the CD format. The lag is very acceptable once you know it's there.
Also, it would be nice if it was possible to select a cuepoint from the memory card and cue instantly while playing rather than having to do this offline.
Loading is also very fast (compared to the new Technics SL-DZ1200 digital turntable, which takes an annoying 12 seconds to load a CD (good for a living-room stereo, but a club?).
The mk2 has almost nothing more added compared to the normal, non-mk2 one. This annoyingly lowers the selling price of mine for no good reason.
The fact pioneer hasn't had to release a real new model in years shows how standard this one is, though if they continue this way they'll be bitten by the competition in pretty much the same way Technics was by Vestax, Stanton, and everybody else. Maybe that's why they named this one after Technics' turntables: mk2... ;)4/9/2005 12:00 AM | Rating:
