Product Description
Yamaha's DV-C6760 is equipped to make the most of your home entertainment--everything from ultra-high-resolution audio and video performance to MP3/WMA listening convenience and digital-photo viewing. The unit's dual-format DVD-Video and SACD playback gives you the best of your movies and music. Further, the DV-C6760's progressive-scan video output and DCDi processing optimize the player for use with today's and tomorrow's high-definition and HD-ready TVs. Future-ready, indeed.
Other disc formats handled by the player include standard DVD-Video, video CD (VCD), and video-mode DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW discs. The unit features 108 MHz/12-bit video D/A conversion for pristine quality in any format. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.
SACD media offers super high-fidelity sound. Depending on the disc, Sony's proprietary SACD format provides multichannel and/or stereo sound, often presented in a dual-layer format compatible with both standard CD players (at standard resolution) and SACD-equipped players like the DV-C6760 (for full-resolution playback).
Audio enhancements consist of an audio-direct switch and CD upsampling playback (to an incredible 1,764 kHz) to give you the best-possible sound quality from your standard audio CDs. MP3 features include the ability to play multisession discs and mixed-format MP3/JPEG CDs.
As an anti-piracy measure, the DV-C6760 performs its own decoding of both DVD-Audio and SACD signals, passing high-resolutionanalog, not digital, audio to your integrated amplifier or surround receiver. This means you'll need an audio/video receiver with multichannel analog-audio inputs to appreciate multichannel DVD-A and SACD releases.
A set of stereo and a set of multichannel analog-audio outputs route audio from DVD-A/SACD media as well as from Dolby Digital- and DTS-encoded DVDs to your AV receiver. If you're not planning to use the DVD-A/SACD capability for multichannel programming, both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each of RCA coaxial and Toslink optical) for simpler connection with your receiver.
Other features include 4-step multiple zoom (1x, 2x, 4x and 8x), onscreen menu icons, and 2-channel stereo mixdown for all surround formats (in case you're listening in stereo rather than in surround).
What's in the Box
DVD Player, Remote Control, two AA remote batteries, an audio/video cable, a user's manual, an AC power cord, and warranty card.

Excellent product.
This is an excellent product. Installation was a breeze. The disk tray is a bit large but for me that was not a problem. Excellent image. Could play DVD's I received from Holland without any problem. Very good product at a very good price....

Slow To Load, But Plays Disks Dependably!
My take and things I've noticed about it:This player is slow to load a disk. However, it has played everything I have put into it with 100% dependability. The inside of the tray doesn't seem to be as well made as the rest of the unit. It may just be that the tray is kind of huge when it is ejected; it seemingly makes up most of the unit. The remote control lacks an eject button (that isn't too big a deal to me). Thanks to another reviewer I am able to play DVDs from other countries (specifically, from...

Great Player, Great Price
What you're getting is a player that will (literally, especially if you follow the instructions of the other reviewer's suggestion) play anything that is in disc form. What is really great is being able to watch a marathon length movie (Lord of the rings, Star Wars trilogy, Indy trilogy, Shogun, etc), and not have to get up to change the disc in the middle of the film. The play exchange is great if you're watching something like the Platnum edition of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy (6 discs) so...

Great DVD player!
This dvd player was just released in Dec, 2004. I've used it for 5 months so far. It's a great DVD player. It can play everything I throw in: DVD+R, DVD-R, & VCD. Even more, it can play the AVI and MPG files on both CD and DVD media. The picture quality is great. I have a SONY HDTV and playing movie with progressive scan (480P) is just amazing. The sound, you know what Yamaha is good at. I am quite satisfied with its performance as a whole. My only complaint is the boot time is a little bit long....
