Product Description
The player is also ready for your favorite movies, of course, in either standard NTSC or in the PAL format (region 1 or all-region discs only). Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DVD-806 can deliver the full potential of your DVDs through its advanced MDDI progressive scanning. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.
Top-of-the-line component-video outputs (switchable between 480p and standard 480i) help minimize digital and line-scan artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television.
A set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each of RCA coaxial and Toslink optical) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver, or decoded and sent to "Dolby-ready" receivers via a set of 6 RCA analog outputs.
A parental lock keeps young eyes off mature content.

Wrecking DVDs
I bought a Malata DVD-806 Progressive-Scan DVD Player, and wasn't satisfied at all with it. It was very noisy, did a very poor job on rented DVDs that other DVD players were able to play, and wrecked two of my DVDs. I recommend caution, and hang onto your receipt and original packaging in the (not unlikely) case you would need to return it....

Very good DVD Player
It is working better than all my previous DVD players and compatible with All DVDs, RW, VCD, SVCD, MP3 etc.The DVD tray is fragile and very light. Except this problem, I am happy with DVD Player...

Good interlaced picture but awful progressive.
Pros:- Price- Very thin design- Excellent interlaced picture- Fast and responsiveCons:- Awful progressive picture- Fragile Tray- Remote ControlSince this is a cheap low-end player, most people will probably not want to pair this up with a tv that is capable of progressive output. I tested it on a 60" Sony, and the progressive image colors are washed out and muddy. On the same tv, the interlaced image, on the other hand, is excellent and is better than some higher priced players. I tried some Pixar...

Excellent DVD Player Malata 806
I have many DVD players before (Apex 1100, 2600, Aspire Digital AD-1000, ect..) but no one can play so good looks like this one (from my TV, picture is so clear and nice color), since I have it, I never have picture's problem that I had before with others DVD players . Malata 806 a cheaper DVD player and an execellent quality,I love it!...

great deal
I had the dvd player for almost a month. It works smoothly on most of my dvds, including some ones couldn't be played by more expensive players. It plays mp3 and pictures(jpeg) on TV as well. The box is pretty thin and light. I have no problem to put a disk in.I agree with most of the previous reviews on one issue: the remote is terribly designed, the buttons are not well arranged. Sometimes you need to push the buttons very hard...Hey, but anyway it works....
